Le crédit inter-entreprises en Europe : une perspective historique

PRÉSENTATION

Malgré la financiarisation des économies le crédit inter-entreprises occupe aujourd’hui une place majeure dans la structure financière des firmes petites et grandes dans le monde. Malgré cela, il a longtemps été négligé par les historiens de l’économie qui préfèrent travailler sur des sources de financement plus accessibles et plus formalisées.

Les études historiques présentées dans ce livre analysent sur un long XXe siècle le crédit inter-entreprises en Europe occidentale, à la fois sous sa forme de crédit commercial (la première source de financement à court terme des firmes) et celle de crédit financier (financement direct inter-entreprises, crédit intra-groupe, crédit de la famille et/ou du réseau…). Réalisé par une équipe internationale de chercheurs, ce recueil livre une première contribution à l’histoire du financement inter-firmes des entreprises européennes, dont on retrouve bien des traits aujourd’hui dans les flux massifs de capitaux circulant à l’intérieur des groupes mondialisés. Il montre que loin de se réduire à une forme archaïque de financement qui résulterait des imperfections du marché des capitaux, le crédit inter-firmes correspond à un besoin de coordination et d’adaptation des firmes à leur environnement et au progrès technique.

The papers published in this book were initially prepared for the conference held at the Ministère de l’Économie et des Finances on the 9th and 10th of March, 2017 (Inter-firm credits in Europe 1880‑2010), organized by Michel Lescure in the context of the work of the IGPDE (Institut de la Gestion Publique et du Développement Économique) and of the CHEFF (Comité pour l’Histoire Économique et Financière de la France).

The conference and the book have been financed by the IGPDE, the Crédit Agricole, the Société Générale, the IDHE.S Nanterre (Institutions et Dynamiques Historiques de l’Économie et des Sociétés, UMR-CNRS 8533) and the Doctoral School of EOS (Économie-Organisation-Société) of the University Paris-Nanterre. We would like to thank these institutions.

Michel Lescure (dir.)

Michel Lescure has taught at the Universities of Aix-en-Provence, Tours, Paris-Nanterre and Genève. He is now Professor Emeritus of Economic History at the University of Paris Nanterre and member of IDHE.S (UMR-CNRS 8533). The last publications he directed Immortal banks. Strategy, structure, and performances of major banks, Droz, Genève, 2016 ; « Directions financières et directeurs financiers », Entreprises et Histoire, 2019.

Michael Moss (dir.)

Michael Moss is Emeritus Professor of Archival Science at the University of Northumbria, he was previously Research Professor in Archival studies in the Humanities Advanced Technology and Information Institute at the University of Glasgow, where he directed the Information Management and Preservation MSc programme. Prior to being appointed to HATII, he was archivist of the University from 1974 to 2003. He was educated at the University of Oxford and trained at the Bodleian Library. He was Miegunyah Distinguished Visiting Fellow in the e-Scholarship Research Centre at the University of Melbourne in 2015. He was a Non-executive director of the National Trust for Scotland, 2004-2010, a Member of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Records and Archives from 2007-2015 and a Non-executive Director of the National Records of Scotland 2008-2018. He was recognised with a lifetime achievement award by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Archives and History in 2018. He researches and writes in the fields of history and the information sciences.
